Environmental and occupational factors and higher risk of couple infertility: a systematic review study

Abstract Background Infertility is a global health problem that represents an increasing trend due to new lifestyles following technological advances since individuals are facing more risk factors than before. The present systematic review study aimed investigate the impact of environmental and occupational on reproductive parameters increased couple infertility. Main body Scopus, PubMed, SID, Web Science databases were searched for available observational (i.e., cohort, case-control, cross-sectional) review, meta-analysis, clinical trial studies between 2007 2019. To this end, keywords such as ‘Environmental exposure’, ‘Occupational pollutants’, pollution’, ‘Couple infertility’, ‘Sterility’, ‘Sub-fertility’ used. retrieved investigations examined indices infertility risk. Totally, 66 out 9519 papers evaluated after considering inclusion exclusion criteria. reported in reviewed heavy metals, cigarette smoking, exposure chemicals through consumer goods, urban life, proximity main roads. In addition, included physical activity, prolonged sitting, hot environment, contact with formaldehyde, pesticides, insecticides, mechanical vibration, ionizing radiation, all which affected parameters. However, some researchers found no significant associations regard. Short conclusion general, known impairments exposed factors. Nonetheless, needed determine population.
